St. Catherines Pinball Journey 2013... Part II!

Hello again and welcome back to my trip report of the St. Catherines Pinball Journey!

We started off the trip report covering the stops at Welland and Port Colbourne and the pinball tables that can be found there. We left off with an impromptu review of Red & Ted's Road Show at Colonial Cleaners. R&T was not the only machine that called this little port town laundromat home. There's also Star Wars!

I have spoken previously of the Star Wars table that can be found at Unlovable here in Toronto and you can read all about it right here. I'm quite familiar with the table but there is quite a few differences between the two. Colonial Cleaners is in much better shape than Unlovable's table and a heckuva lot easier to see the playfield! I was talking to Shane about this during the trip and I want to share this insight with you as well. Throughout St. Catherines, there is not as many Stern tables as there are in the City; instead, there's a lot of older 90's era tables. My feeling is that a lot of these tables were put on location back in the 90's and have been there ever since. I don't think there are many, if any, operators in the St. Catherines area and I believe that these tables were purchased by the owners of the businesses to make a few extra dollars here and there. I doubt there is much of a market for buying and selling machines in the area so I imagine that a lot of these tables have sat in the same place since the day they were purchased. That's my feeling for Star Wars and Red & Ted's Road Show at Colonial Cleaners as well as a few other tables throughout St. Catherines. The weird thing is that this particular Star Wars is in better condition than the one at Unlovable even though it has probably been on location much, much longer. My guess is that not many people play these tables in Port Colbourne. Both times we stopped by the laundromat, the tables have shut off and must be turned on. That just goes to show how rarely these tables are used.

St. Catherines Pinball Journey 2013!

Back in 2011, my brother Shane discovered a page on Kijiji that listed a bunch of locations of pinball tables throughout the St. Catherines area. There were some pretty awesome tables to be found in St. Catherines so we put together a map and went on a pinball journey!

Here's just a small sample of what we saw...

Data East's Star Wars at Colonial Cleaners in Port Colbourne.
Premier's Super Mario Bros. at Entertainment Overload in Welland.
Bally's Theatre of Magic at Harborfront Inn in Port Colbourne.
Data East's WWF Royal Rumble at Doubletree Inn in Niagara Falls.

We set out on another journey to play old, familiar tables from our past adventure as well as discover some new tables that have popped up on our radar.

Pinball Update for Summer 2013

Back again with another Pinball Update! I missed the end of the month deadline though WHAT A BUMMER! I have a good reason for it however. I was planning on putting the update out on Sunday, June 30th but instead Shane and I decided to go on ST. CATHERINES PINBALL JOURNEY 2013!!! Want a preview? WELL.... OK.

Only a small taste though! I'm going to be writing a trip report very soon. That's a FAQT JAQ!

Anyways, the pinball search in Toronto has been a FINE HUNT this month with a couple of new machines popping up in the wild and a couple of updates to a few locations. The replacements are a boon as the former machines at these locations were often out of order so it's nice to see that they have been put out to pasture and replaced with operational tables.

Lets get started with some new locations! This update is mainly focused on College St. as that's where the machines have seemed to pop up! That's good news as I always thought College to be kinda starved for pinball compared to Dundas West and Queen West.

I caught word that Andy Poolhall houses a couple of machines. I'm glad to say that word did not fail me and two tables actually reside at Andy Poolhall!

Two Pat Lawlor tables, NASCAR and Roller Coaster Tycoon take up residence at Andy Poolhall.
