Kensington Brewing Co. Pinball Sundays ROUND 1 - Brass Taps

The first round of Kensington Brewery Company and 3030's Pinball Sunday tournaments has come and gone!
The first Pinball Sunday was held at Brass Taps Pizza Pub on the Danforth. My friend Adam and I got there a little early... We thought it was at 3 PM but turns out the tournament was at 5 PM OOF. We met up with my buds, AK and Sean, and we all went to Detroit Eatery for some tasty burgs!
We stopped by ETON House afterwards for a little bit of Black Rose. My excuse to go to ETON house was to take a few pictures of Black Rose with my new camera... and it was totally worth it! See for yourself!
We played a couple of rounds of Black Rose until 5 PM then went back to Brass Taps. We were met with a decent sized crowd of people and things got under way.
There were a few issues that needed to be ironed out but that is usually par for the course when starting off something new! Everything ended up working out well. Learn from your mistakes and build upon it! After we got the tournament entries lined up, the tournament was under way.
We started off on Rolling Stones but the games soon starting spilling over onto Metallica.
I took over the jukebox and played hella Judas Priest to get me in the zone.

Adam had previously beaten me at 3030's Those Elite Guilty Pleasures event early on the tournament.
This time around we were on opposite sides and made our way through the ranks to the FINALS! TIME TO FIGHT!
It was 2 out of 3 falls to see who would take away the Brass Taps championship. It was a tough fought battle, with Adam taking the first round with about 22 million points, myself taking the second round with... about 22 million points. FINAL ROUND I was on my third ball, down by a couple million, extra ball lit... NO FEAR!
True story and not just a catchphrase on my t-shirt! I managed to score the extra ball and then on my final ball, I lit Electric Chair Multiball. It could have been a game changer but I just could hit it and drained on a missed shot off of the Electric Chair DAMN!
Adam won in a really tough fought battle WOOOO! Congratulations to Adam on winning the tournament! It was a hella tough-fought battle and it couldn't have gone to a better player!
Adam has only won the battle of Brass Taps... but he has yet to win the war of PINBALL SUNDAYS!

Big thanx goes out to AK and Allison for taking some sweet pix while I was playing pinball and stuff!

Pinball Update for March 2014

There has been a lot of action in the pinball scene this winter. During my last update in January, some new tables popped up in Toronto like Batman at Harborfront centre, which has now been replaced by Shrek. The Rolling Stones popped up at a new location, Bar Radio.
Speaking of old rocks, AC/DC has returned to the city.
The table is is at a new locale, Lipstick & Dynamite. The address is 992 Queen St. West, right around Queen and Ossington. The table is located in the back of the bar, near the washrooms. Word is that this particular AC/DC table has the updated code and it really shows. The game just feels much more fleshed out and there are now quite a few new animations on the Dot Matrix Display. The table is brand spankin' new right now; the playfield is so clean that you can hear the ball sliding across it. Everything is in order save for the cannon; when the ball is loaded into the cannon, it tends to stick and pressing the Fire button won't do anything. I also realized how much of a pain that cannon is. The right outlanes are obscured by the cannon and the ramps and makes it difficult to save your ball when it falls down near the right side.

Another War Machine championship for MUF!

This past Saturday, I went on a pinball marathon with my buddy, Adam, and played pinball all over the city, from 3030 to Monarch Tavern and everywhere else in between. Lipstick & Dynamite was the 4th stop on our trip and was my third time putting up my initials! Prior to L&D, we were at Boo Radley's in the Junction at Dupont and Symington. Wheel of Fortune is gone and Family Guy is now standing alone. It's been fixed up somewhat and the table doesn't spew out more pinballs at random as much any more. It still does, mind you, but not as often. One of the Stewie pinball slingshots is broken and blocks off the left outlane and makes for an awkward game. It's not too bad but it might screw you up once or twice.

Pinball Update for May 26, 2013

You know that I just love doing these pinball updates at the end of the month! I've been awfully busy lately, playing pinball, setting high scores, hunting down machines... You know, the usual stuff! I have a lot of great updates to bring you this time around but first how about a little preview of Pinballapalooza? I will be doing a more thorough review of the event soon but I have something special for it so hold yer horses! Enjoy these pics for now!

That's only half of it! But I don't want to spoil too much! Now let's get in to the real reason for this post: UPDATES!

California Sandwiches has replaced Spider-Man with The Rolling Stones.

Batman still resides at the restaurant and I also put a high score up this weekend!

Canadian Pinball Tournament 2012

Get ready for my latest pinball adventure!

Oh yeah!
Miranda, Shane and I all ventured out to Playdium Missisauga to take part in the Canadian Pinball Championships! We had next to no idea what tables were going to be a part of the tournament but we soldiered on anyways in search of good times and good pinball. The only hint we had about the lineup was that the modern tournament would be played on the latest Stern machines.

So you have... AC/DC, Transformers, Tron: Legacy, Rolling Stones and Avatar.
