HAPPY NEW YEAR! 2013 in Review

Holey moley, the chapter of 2013 has come to a close and what a great year it has been! Not just for pinball but in general! I had a pretty good year and I hope that you did too! There were a lot of good things about pinball this past year; lots of new machines popped up and a bunch of cool events happened. Let's take a look-see!

The year was a FINE HUNT when it came to find out new pinball machines. I found a lot of new locations all over the city.

Back in the start of the year, I discovered Monopoly at Humber Cinema...

Andy Poolhall came up on my radar with their lineup of NASCAR and Roller Coaster Tycoon (based on the top-selling PC-CD ROM game)...

The Big Lebowski Pinball

Whoa! There seems to be a lot of announcements in the pinball industry this month...

There is a teaser website up at www.thebiglebowskipinball.com that has now been updated to also include a teaser video!

The video doesn't reveal too much details besides the fact that it is officially licensed and is going to be manufactured by Dutch Pinball, the company that is producing Bride of Pin-Bot 2.0 which is an update of the original, now with a DMD and new soundclips from the original voice actor!

I'll keep my eyes out for any updates on this! Keep tuned in, dig?

STERN ANNOUNCES FORD MUSTANG PINBALL

WHOOOOOOOOOA! Stern just announced today that their upcoming machine is going to be based on the 50th anniversary of the Ford Mustang!

Stern has partnered with Ford to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the classic Mustang in pinball form! Read the announcement here. There has not been any pictures released of the Mustang pinball table so enjoy some pictures I've taken of Mustangs!

nice
From the sounds of it, the table is going to have custom artwork by Camilo Pardo, the fellow who designed the Ford GT

wow
Not only is this table going to have custom artwork but it's going to be PAINTED! I mean not handpainted on every machine but the art package is going to be painted. Is this a signal that Stern is stepping away from the usual cheap-looking photoshop art packages and going with more handmade artwork? Some signs point to "Yes"! Take a look at Metallica's art package by Dirty Donny and Stern's newest run of AC/DC, "Luci" edition that has new cabinet and backglass artwork.

I think it's safe to say that hand-painted art packages are so much better than the latest output of photoshopped packages.
that's cool
Beyond the press release, there is not much else information about Stern's Ford Mustang pinball. Rumors are floating about that John Trudeau may be designing the playfield. He did recently join the Stern team so Mustang may end up being his first output at the world's premier pinball manufacturer.

neat
Stern's been on a roll lately with their licenses; we've gotten some big names in rock'n'roll like AC/DC and Metallica and the successor to a Williams classic in the form of Star Trek. Hopefully, we won't have to see any more licensed tables on the same level as Big Buck Hunter Pro...

Keep tuned into Bright Lights Bumper City! I'll be bringing more news about Stern's Ford Mustang table as soon as it comes out!
